Refusal by Google

Query about why web site was refused for Adsense

Hi. I have a site that appears to meet all the Google criteria for acceptance to AdSense - but I was refused. The site has loads of content (200 pages) and a lot of traffic, and it deals with a mainstream area. Someone suggested to me that I was declined because Google may have taken the view that I have created the site just to post AdSense ads because I don't sell anything or carry any other ads. Actually I set it up a couple of years ago as a hobby and AdSense seems to be a good way to generate some pay-back. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

You know that no one can really help without seeing the site, and the board has a policy of not posting specifics.

Did the email mention a reason for denial?

Google certainly isn't going to reject you because you aren't selling things or running ads. As for why they said no, it's impossible to even guess without more information. Try reading other threads on this topic to see if other applicants' experiences strike a chord.

Better yet, politely ask Google why your application was rejected. It's possible that they made a mistake and you can ask to be reconsidered, or that there's something you can fix easily. (For what it's worth, my own application was rejected last June; I wrote back, they said they'd made a mistake, and I've been happily earning ad revenues from Google ever since.)

Some common reasons for being declined:
- pages are on a free host rather than on a domain that you own/control
- site was previously declined, or is associated with an account that was previously terminated by G.
- content somewhere on the site violates Google's terms of service (sex, casinos, drug use, etc)

Apologies if I have breached some protocols on the forum. I am a newbie. Thank you for your replies. For information purposes, my site does not appear to be running foul of any of the Google policies. I think I will contact Google and ask them "politely" why I was refused. Thanks again for your help.

I was turned down because my site was a "personal site" -- which it isn't. I waited a month and then politely enquired how to reapply. I got an email after 24 hours accepting me into the program.

The site had had very little work done on it in the meantime... just a wee bit of tidying up.

Write to them, try again. Their declinations certainly don't seem to stem form any reasoned thought or process.

I've applied with a bunch of sites. A few REALLY obscure ones were accepted. Those sites are completely unsuitable for AdSense. My long extablished serious sites though where rejected, despite beeing a perfect match to AdSense.

I now run AdSense on the rejected sites, usign the accounts from the accepted sites, while I run NO ads on the accepted sites as it would be a waste of effort.

I also know for a fact that Google has had a close look several times as I had some issues with payment and was in close communication with them.

Never been a problem, and been earning happily since June.

Morale of the story: Rejection or acceptance to AdSense says bugger all about the qualifications of the site... (at least did back then)
