Change to ads about:

Has anyone else seen this text?

I just noticed for the first time the text "Change to ads about:" on a 300x350 rectangle. Below that text there were 3 links, the three links were very well targetted for the subject of my site.

Has anyone else seen this before?

that is kind of wierd isn't it?
If your site topic is cartoons, wouldn't it be unnecessary to send your visitors away to "view ads about boats"?

will these ads also generate earnings?

yep... saw it for the first time right now... that's what brought me here.

seems like a good idea. it sort of gives the visitor an option to 'control' what they want to see.

fingers crossed - mebbe it will bring in tons of clicks. only time will tell...

Well the other ads were also well targetted, so it's not like the visitors will get the option to change to ads completely different from the subject of the site.

well that kind of ad is new to me.

but yesterday (today it's gone) i noticed another kind of ad appearing from time to time on my site and which i find even more interesting.

it is a leaderboard with normal three text ads and then a search box to the right with text "change to ads about" above.
so you can type in a keyword and ads to that keyword are displayed. nice.
unfortunately, the font face for the whole block changed from the standard leaderboard font to arial to fit the size plus the search box color is white on my dark background, which on my site doesn't look very appealing. if they only let us change some styles..

I think it quite likely that the subject of the site is ambiguous - or has a larger related subject.

I've had link unit blocks become search blocks instead, ie

search: [.....]

Was rather interesting.

Looks good but again they didn't notify us or give a chance to choose between a forced search box or alternate ads.

I don't understand why Google ignores publisher opinions. There's a free "render-farm" available. Is it so hard to send a survey request to publishers before making important changes? I wouldn't feel disturbed. That would be a respectful attitude.
