I've seen a couple of forum posts that have mentioned some TOS restriction that had recently been removed by Google on Adsense...maybe about having other text based ads (?)...is this true? The TOS still look the same to me.

Can you pint me to the URL and let me know what exactly you are asking. What I feel by reading your post is that you ask if there can be other forms of advertising )tet based) etc on the same pages/websiet as on adsense?
I feel I have seen a lot of website susing banner ads as well as adsense. I have seen a lot of them using affiliate links and other text based linkings as well!
