i ahve done some research on adsense techniques through this site. i have found that blending in adsense with the background and putting it under a horizontal menu is the best technique. it has increased revenue for me about 5 fold. hope this helps you guys.

Such a technique will help some sites. It will hurt other sites.

I'd say that as a general rule of thumb, blending is good for higher CTR sites and contrasting is good for very low CTR sites.

Contrasting was initially more effective but increased ad-blindness has made most publishers adopt a blended advertising style. I like to keep track of changes like this because you can bet your car on the fact that things will move back the other way one day - learning from history is the best way to be ahead of the competition.

i've yet to have an experience where blended wasn't better myself.

Where do you draw the line between high ctr and low ctr?
