I am doing a directory site that has contact info for several instituions within a specific industry 700+ . I have currently included just the mailing address and phone number for the companies. I have links to and from these pages to other pages within my website. I know you should have links to leave your page other than through adsense links but would adding extra links to the home pages of the specific company hurt my adsense revenue. I would not consider the site a MFA site because the content is indeed very helpful and all original. My question would be this how many outs (non-revenue producing links) is too many for a directory type site. I hope this makes sense!

Thanks

Steve

Is there a law that says a directory must have links?

As a directory owner, I would love to hear what others are doing about this.

I've thought about taking all the links off. I've thought about having them all open into a new window. In the end, I've left them as they are becuase I want value for my visitors. I'm afraid that if I take the links off, it will make the directory less useful for visitors.

A directory providing only emails, telephone numbers and adresses of companies seems to be a bit out of date, and not providing what visitors want. They surely want to see the websites and what is on offer. We run a directory that provide es outgoing links (up to 40 on a page). Most of our pages have PR=4 so the listed companies might also benefit from that. Websites linked to open in a new window, so visitors can come back to the site (and see the Adsense ads). We can only say that our CTR and earnings are quite OK. One should not be afraid of putting even a lot of outgoing links in my opinion.

1: Not every place of business has a website.
2: A directory is not defined by links to websites.

Stop defining things as others have defined them for you. There are other possibilities.
