I see Google are now using the Valueclick network to supply adverts to Valueclick publishers on a CPM basis. The publisher receives a CPM rate, multiple Google adsense adverts are displayed. Quite how the advertisers are charged I couldn't say, but the adverts appear context relevant.

This has been going on for years (I think before adsense was made available to smaller publishers).

Valueclick bought fastclick and fastclick has been running the adsense ads for at least a couple of years.

I never noticed Fastclick running Adsense adverts before (I run fastclick, but of course they are no more now). Strange I never noticed.

Yep, when Google added the rule about no two contextual ads on the same page, a few folks were worried about running fastclick served adsense ads and regular adsense ads on the same page.
