Any Canadian webmasters receive payment today with a screwed up exchange rate?

Exchange Rate 0.884 : 1

There's no way 1 USD is worth 88 cents Canadian. It's more in the 1.12 neighborhood.

How could they screw that up?

For those of you who speculate if it affects actual payout, it sure did with wiretranfser(in sweden anyway). If you have selected payouts with checks, i don't know. Maybe they managed to stop them.

Of the 3 people I have seen has gotten response from google it's a standard "thank you for noticing we will look into it asap"-response mail but no further information yet.

AdSense support just told me they are investigating it as quickly as possible. I'm sure they are.

Their policy has been that missing payments are replaced the following month. I'd be very surprised if they waited that long in our case, as a screwup of this magnitude could adversely affect their stock price.

I haven't received my EFT yet. It usually arrives the night that my payment history reports the final amount.

In other news, now might be a good time to put your resume in at Google. Perhaps they have some open positions.

Wow how can Google screw up so bad, lol. I'm out about $600.

It's probably the worst time for Google to screw up aswell, money is tight this month.

I am happy to hear they are responding quickly on this, even though they have no specifics. Support wrote us back very quickly on this one.

Send'em our thanks ASA.

very strange 'mistakes'

You should realize that the software that drives Google is very complex. They are far more than a search engine now, and their applications run on what must now be tens of thousands of machines.

Every computer program of significant size has some bugs. While they ought to test new software more rigorously, I'm sure this is not the result of conscious intent.

I do agree that mistakes can happen, but same mistake twice in a row? this time EFT came with 0.166 to 1 dollar exchange rate, what had to be 6.166 : 1 .... calculate how much I'm pissed off :D

Same thing here, I'm out a couple hundred bucks. It's already a tight month.

Google waiting another month to pay this out is *NOT* acceptable. ASA?

That is an excuse. Sure the system is complex in nature... testing however remains quite a uncomplicated task.

A simple test by a human before issuing blanket statements would have been easy to do. How much code do you roll out that is this flawed, or untested?

I just checked my checking account and did not receive any funds yet. In the past, whenever I get payment link, funds are in my banks account. This tells me that Google is working on this problem. Funds might have been stopped or something. We'll see what happens by the end of the day. Let's hope Google fixes this problem.

I can't connect to adsense now.

maybe they just are turning the server upside-down to fix the reversed exchange ratio?

Isn't all the payment processing out sourced?

adsense is upagain, but exchange rate 0.166 still wrong for Danish krona... has to be around 6.166... looks like simple human error, 0 instead of 6. Doesn't explain canada and sweden mistakes thou

I don't think so. When I was on "check", I got them from New York state. I am on EFT now, and don't think it's outsourced.

I not sure but I remember some thread from last month about UK publishers noticing an error in the exchange rate also, but in their favor. No one reported receiving the payment in the end. I too have the exchange rate reversed but no funds have reached my account yet. I'm guessing what they put on your payment page may not always correspond to your actual payment?

If that is so; you just don't let computersoftware handle millions of dollars without signifant human interference. Someone or something should have said stop in the final step of the payout procedure.

I mean, in the nordic countries we only got 1-2 percent of our actual payout.

Now I am sure this will be corrected next month, however i feel it's somewhat a little disturbing.

Yes, Google in the past has stated that AdSense payments will be processed through a third party. I would hate to be the one running that company right now.

I'm in Canada, and chose to receive EFT in Canadian dollars.

I can confirm that the payment amount was incorrect, as it just showed up in my online banking. Google sent out a mass email saying they're investigating, so I imagine they will make a 2nd payment at some point (hopefully next week), for the difference.

It's too bad Google doesn't offer EFT in US dollars to Canadian publishers who have US dollar bank accounts at a Canadian bank.

The payment ammount still does not show up in my online banking account. They screwed up big this time. They should pay us the difference as soon as possible. We should not wait another month to get the difference just because they screwed up.

Google are good people, and everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure they'll make things right as soon as they can.

Maybe they'll send Canadian publishers some nice Google Gear on July 1st (Canada Day), as a bonus! :)

If we get a small gift for Canada Day, I might even forgive Google $600+ that owes me, *lol*

Yeah it's messed up, they emailed me about it too. I think from the looks of it they switched it in the sense that instead of getting like 1.15 CAD to the USD it was reversed. Something like that.

Hope they fix it asap..I'm counting on that to pay a few bills next week.
