Can I run both on the same page? or will google not like that?

In the FAQ it says >>

so if the banner is line text style that is not ok....but if its banners for products with pictures, etc thats ok?

I would say a banner is a banner, regardless if the amount of text there is on the banner image. But you can always drop the AdSense people a quick email to confirm.
