Greetings,

I have a web site which shows product description's. And on those pages, I show Adsense ads. Once the product description is displayed, the user has an option to buy the product from several different online retailers.

When I show these ads, currently I have no way to restrict the Adsense ads on product descriptions, which the Adsense team might find offensive. For example, I show Book's bibliographic information, so in my database, there are books which might have <snip - "specific adult keywords"> words in the title, or the related titles by the same publisher / Author.

Q1. Is it okay to show Adsense ads on these pages? I have over one million book's bibliographic information and these words would probably appear in only a few hundred.

Q2. If this is not okay, is there a list of words that I can find somewhere, which should be used to censor the pages where Adsense ad is okay?

Thanks in advance to all who will respond to this post.

Regards
Sdani

No, it is not okay to show AdSense on those pages.

From the Google AdSense Policies

Site Content
Site may not include:
Excessive profanity
Hate, violence, racial intolerance, or advocate against any individual, group, or organization
Hacking/cracking content
Illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia
Pornography, adult, or mature content
Gambling or casino-related content

I would remove AdSense from any book pages on the above.

As for as censor words, there is no list, but if the mediabot recognizes certain words (it seems it is weighted by frequency and where the words appear on the page) you will show PSAs and not targeted ads. But if those pages are against the AdSense policies for site content, you could find yourself on the receiving end of a suspension or warning.

You can find their full policies here: [google.com...] It is always a good idea to read the FAQ, Terms and Policies for AdSense, because it has a lot of what is and isn't allowed when running AdSense.

Thanks for your response. I think its good that I still have time to correct my code as Google has not yet sent me any warning. (Being proactive is good).

Thanks again

The TOS actually read "SITE may not include", so if you have anything that overtly breaks the terms then you might want to delete it or move it to another domain.

In the situation you're describing, I would think that simply not showing AdSense ads on the questionable pages would be a good choice as long as they aren't too lurid.
