I had my ads blending completely into my board. Good days for me are $25 a day. But this month has been averaging just over $15 a day. Since my PHPBB board has a lot of "boxes" -- horizontal rect with borders -- I decided to put a border on all of my Adsense ads. I thought maybe it will look more like other sections of the page. Earnings and clicks dropped almost immediately to $12.00 a day. But I wanted to give it some time so I kept it that way for a week.
After 5 days I decided to add coding to only show ads to guests. Everyone knows and says that regular forum members don't click. It was easy to do so I did it.
Clicks and earning plummeted instantly. Instead of 130 clicks on average I was seeing 70 clicks on average. And even though impressions dropped by 60% eCPM did NOT go up.
After two days of sub-$10 days I put everything back the way it was prior to my experimentation. Now earnings and clicks are back up to $15 or more a day.
It's good to experiment, but it doesn't always yield improvements.
You are still letting in the AdSense Mediabot as if it were a guest? If not, your ads will become PSAs methinks...
