I've read very often here that is makes sense not to show ads to registered members on a forum. Why not?

I know that forum members don't click very much on ads but one click is a click so why should one not show them to everyone? Of course I know page impressions would go down and CTR up if ads are only shown to guests, but what about earnings?

Would be interested in any experiences!

Well I can tell you from my experience once that I made it so that only guest can see it, I lost about 2 percent of clicks so that shows that members almost never click ads, but the great thing is that earnig went way up :) so I gues there might be some true to this smart pricing thing, so I would really recommend only showing ads to guest, but I guess it also de pepends on your forums :)

I went further and removed ads from forums all together. I focused ads on the main site and drove my forum traffic there. The thing with ads on forums is multiple impressions/user (guest or member) they drive your overall earnings per click down.
