I know its too early to say this as even the day is not over yet - but my earnings are way too low compared to my average. Infact the lowest in the last 3 months. They are down by 50% compared to my average weekday earnings.
Anyone else notice this today!
Seeing the same thing today. ECPM down the toilet. Just when you think it can't get any lower you wake up to find your earnings are slushed by yet another 50% off record lows.
Great!
However I think it could be attributed to advertisers running out of budget after Easter campaigns.
Last Thursday also tanked, but traffic was down 1/4, which I assumed was people leaving for Good Friday early, and so on.
Today puts us lower than most of our weekend days. Strange, as we've been adding new content significantly over the past two weeks. Wondered if that had anything to do with it.
I did make some changes yesterday that might have made a difference. I started to reduce ads on pages from 2 down to 1, having read some advice on this forum I thought there can be no harm as things seemed to be on a nose dive anyway. As a result earnings seem to be healthier and I feel better about the look of my pages.
One day doesn't represent a trend. One week doesn't represent a trend. If you're going to get into a panic every time your AdSense numbers take a dip, forget AdSense (and self-employment) and get a day job.
In fact, it has been so bad that I am beginning to suspect that Google is not properly counting clicks as my CPM has been decimated with no material changes to my site.
Google must have reshuffled the deck. For you who are now on the "wrong" side, my sympathies. As for me, I hate seeing losing thousands a month, and now see a glimmer of hope.

Are we going to have a thread like this every day of the year?
EFV, we know that your account always operates well.
But please try to understand that the rest of us aren't as perfect as yourself.
My earnings were just fine yesterday and today looks on track, but if you're having a problem I think threads like this offer some solace and serve a good purpose.
For what its worth, we ended up just under the daily average, but then we made some late day changes to "related information" looks to have increased page views 20% beyond normal. It's still strange that the day WAS under average, because M-Thur with our site doesn't normally do that. And the CPM's were the lowest of the month.
If anything this is a testament to how steady our sites usually are.
Getting back: Today CPM's are now more than DOUBLE yesterday's, and into the range we saw last month, our best month ever.
Kind of makes you wonder if several advertisers ran out yesterday, and recharged their accounts today? Or specifically pulled some ads on Thursday, because looking back, that was the 3rd or 4th weak Thursday in a row (the others being not that weak, but lower than expected.)
AdSense is an auction-based system with huge numbers of publishers and advertisers. Spikes and dips are inevitable, and different publishers will experience spikes and dips of different amounts on different days. It simply isn't reasonable to draw general conclusions from a tiny sample of publishers at any one point in time.
Anyway. Wednesday highest in months [or what used to be normal], now back to small sums. Within a week I had the highest and lowest maximum within the last 4 months. Since G traffic is jumping around like mad no idea really if it is adaptive smartpricing. ECPM sinking.
Interestingly enough english server is stable and has increasing traffic. Both servers concepts are the same just on the falling server there is more work done. :\
So... advertisers are complaining that ad costs are going up per click, and at the same time publishers are complaining that their earnings are declining, despite stable or increased traffic?!
I have noticed a decline since mid April, but this is likely normal with the week of Easter. I am going to give it a few weeks -- it will likely go back to "normal". (Maybe the only thing which is normal is change.)
europe: you need to get off your high-horse and go write some travel content. I and a lot of others are getting tired of your constant defense and jumping in on every thread. Sit back and let others complain every once in a while, no need to comment.
hdpt00, LOL you took the words right out of mouth.
Say something wrong about Google and be sure to hear from the travel author guy.
Gee....makes one wounder doesn’t it?
1) Large parcel of GOOG?
2) Under cover G rep?
3) Someone with nothing better to do?
4) OR all of the above ;)
But as you will all shout at me I'll keep my gob shut ;)
And just for the record, my stats are bang on average. Had a dip over Easter as expected, but otherwise nothing unusual.
