Hi,

Iam a newbie and like a newbie, excited. But Iam based in India.

Now, India doesnt have a traffic itself in any domain or niches. Broadband has just arrived and there couldnt be more than 100k people with it.

But, on brigther note, Indian railways [world's largest network] , started online ticketing and it touched a million bookings in 2 years flat!

So, I know the potential. One big demographic stat - India is the "youngest" nation on planet i.e. India has the largest %age of people in the age-group of 18-28 than any other country.

My Questions :-

1] Where Do I start? [not necessarily from adsense prism]

2] What sector to target?

------------------------------------------------------
I need specifics on content that can be targeted.

My background is Information technology Services. So getting website ready [though not my domain] won't be much of trouble.

I hope for some good information.

Regards,
dbadon

What sector to target?

How about Affiliate Network? At present, this segment has only one or two good players in India.

Welcome to Webmasterworld dbadon

Though India may not have many users (I mean ad inventory) but internet means globe. And when you put a good content site it attracts visitors from all around the globe. So by remaining in India you can theoretically earn as much as any other publisher in US or anywhere else. It’s the content which matters most.

Here are few useful links

also do a search on this forum and you will find so many information.

Some of the biggest beneficiaries of the boom in adsense has been Indians. The dollar in India goes a lot further than it does in the US and of course a lot further than the UK.

I however disagree with the point of low internet activity in India. Internet penetration might be low, bit still taking into account the population, even the small percentage is actually a very attractive proposition. So, it would not actually hurt even if you target the local audience. However, if you plan want them to purchase products online, I dont think you will succeed as it is still considered a risk factor here..

What do you mean by this statement?

One of my two core sites are based upon niche construction products produced in China and India and you will also find several Indian-based members on this forum.

Write about what you know, don't go niche hunting for something you know nothing about.

I don't think India is any way behind in Google adsense. I have been reading news of Indian publishers making $1000-1500 every month. Recently I read it online here [timesofindia.indiatimes.com]. So you only have to find out a niche which is probably global. As you have said, you are IT person, You can write something related to Linux or Databases. This will fetch traffic from all over the world depending on your site's popularity.

All the best!

Follow G -TOS strictly. If you get banned you will lose all those $$$$ and it will hurt more when you convert the figure in INR.

Don't look to design a website for adsense, rather go with your core strengths. Get a quality website going and then add adsense to it. The former approach may make some money in the short term but the second approach will make big money in the long term.

As any one on this forum will tell you .. G is a long term play.

Hello,

Iam reading this with great interest. maverick0624 laid it out very nicely. And yes, I do intend to blog or make a website with quality checks and maybe in "few" months time, I'll try adsense.

Thanks a bunch.
