Adsense ads now allowed on search results

Anyone have info on this?

I reported a site for using adsense on search results page, and the email I got back from google said `We are allowing AdWords ads to be displayed on search result pages on a
limited basis`

The FAQ still says it isn't allowed on search results. Does anyone have any info on this?

>>I never told google what my site was, and used a different email than what my adsense account is registered under.

I contacted google from the login for adsense and have been honest about it

I wasn't trying to be dishonest, I just have many email addresses, and the one used on adsense account is "sales@blah", which I don't typically use to send email.

Bump:
Been waiting for some official response on this one. It could make or break some deals.

AdSenseAdvisor did comment on this issue in post #5 in this thread.

From ASA:
I do know that the AdSense team is currently testing ads on search results pages. At this point, it's only a test with a limited number of publishers - I don't know if or when it will be made available to all publishers. The program policies page is correct in stating that ads on search results are not currently allowed.

Since some of us have received permission after contacting AdSense support asking to display AdSense on internal search results pages, you should contact them directly for permission:

The response I just received from Adsense is that it is acceptable for now. I infer from the email that it's ok for anyone using Adsense to do so, but this option may be removed at any time. The main part of their email follows below:

The response I received from Adsense is (to me) a little more positive. A little more specific. Their response to me was that it is okay to have a site search tool and they are even allowing publishers to place the ad code on the search results page. All of this is okay as long as I comply with all of their *other* program policies. They also noted that if they discovered a violation they'd simply ask me to remove that page.

That takes me all the way up to 90% sure I'm going to save this message (in a safe deposit box at Fort Knox) and add my site search. Definitely going to sleep on it first though. Hmmm. Maybe a week's worth of sleep.

For what it is worth.

I have had the go ahead and placed Adsense on my search results and it is doing RUBBISH. I will give it 48 hours or so to see if it settles down and then it is going in the trash.

Hey Jim

What type of search results did you ask them about? Is it the results from a ppc affilate like Find What or SearchFeed where you get revenue from clicks, is ODP search results that you offer for your visitors for free or is search results from your own internal pages.

Sorry for any confusion - I'm just back from speaking with the AdSense team about this issue, to get a definite answer for you. If you've received an email from the support team stating that you may add your code to search results pages, then you can go right ahead and add it without any worries. You won't be warned for this action, as they keep track of all of those who have been approved.

Sense_able - feel free to let the support team know how it ends up working for you... they're always looking for input on features being tested.

ASA.

Thank you very much for the clarification ASA. I think anyone that got this email will now be 100% sure. I still was not 100% when I got the email because looking at the Program Policies it still states that placing AdSense on search results is against the TOS.

I will take your words and keep them close to my heart and keep the email from the AdSense Team and never lose it :)

Thanks again.

Do you have to ask the AdSense team whether you can add the AdSense to your search results to get the email or was the email sent out to some publishers without requesting?

I will leave it a little while. It seems to be picking up a little

You have to ask the AdSense Team through email if your site(s) can use the code in your search results. If they okay it you're off to the races :)

Sorry but I don't want Google to allow AdSense on search pages. It would slow down servers of AdSense and I need them to quickly crawl my pages because quite often these servers are not fast enough. Just my 2 eurocents.

Is this a serious statement?

I think Google will account for this if this is the direction they want to take with certain publishers.

Sense_able, does that mean they are well targeted?

Looks like Sebans is going to be the first adsense casualty of 2004, you can see it now
New Thread - "google stopped my login and I don't know why"
sebans - Take it off before it's too late, wait for approval first ncw164x

I requested adsense team and my search site today was approved without problems.

Sense_able thanks for the update.

We also are finding that the results are getting better over time. When we first implemented the code into our SERPS things were not looking very good but as time goes on the Ads are starting to get targeted.

Here's a thought. Why doesn't Google offer a separate code for search results with a <TAG> where you can insert the dynamic Search Word into. This way all the ads will be 100% targeted kind of like FindWhat, SearchFeed and Ah-Ha programs.

Too easily manipulated by the publisher. Though I now know from barely anything to nothing at all about scripting, give me enough incentive and 24 hours and somehow I'll be inserting high-value keywords into that tag.

I am only talking about that Tag for SERPS and also this in with certain publishers at this point so it would be easy for Google to track.

Off topic -

We have placed AdSense in our SERPS for 1 day and from our records it is the best day ever! :)

I'm using freefind on my sites with a custom skin that makes the SERPS look completely part of mysite. For a fee, tehy remove their own ads and let me place mine... would be perfect for AdSense. Since freefind works in a specific way, is there a chance that either all or no freefind serps are approved?

Just curious,

All of you who have SERPS on your sites, what service or scripts do you use. Are they custom-made cgi scripts or freewhare? Can you recommend any?

This is a good move on Googles part. Especially since I know a lot of people that just put the adsense code into the header so its at the top of every page. And if you have an internal search function, OF COURSE it will show up on the internal results page.

Sense_able, does that mean they are well targeted?

I use the alternate ads function to serve white space. In other words I just point the alt ads function at a blank html document

For the first 12 hours I was getting white space on 99% of searches. After 24 hours I was getting broad matches for my site. Now I am starting to get targeted ads.

My site uses software that has search terms such as
[mysite.net...]

The most popular searches started to get targeted ads first and others are starting to come along. All I can assume is Google is logging the search pages as they are coming up. Then when another search is done the same there is targeted ads waiting to be served.

Maybe they are treating each search as a different page
So 1 page is
[mysite.net...]

Then another page is
[mysite.net...]
That way they are slowly building up a collection of targeted ads to serve on the infinite variables that may come up from the page
[mysite.net...]

Someone was asking what search engine I use on my website.
[google.com...]
I will let anyone know the sooooper dooooper one that I use if they want to sticky me
