An adwords forum post here at WW called "Sudden increase of CPC recently?" has 220 replies.

Sounds like there are problems for those placing ads (people who really pay us).

Something about it costing them too much to advertise.

My earnings are down since this was first posted - anyone else?

My 2 sites in different subject areas both show unchanged CTR and CPC (and thus CPM) through March and April.

Until now, Apirl EPC is 10,8% above March EPC, but still little bit less than December 2005

That thread seems to be about changes to the "landing page" factor, which has been a part of AdWords for some time now.

It may be affecting advertisers on the search network more than on content network.

My theory is if it costs more to advertise the better for our adsense accounts.

Think about it, advertisers pay adwords which go into our pockets, adsense takes 25%, we take 75%... what happens if the keywords become more expencive? we make more money, it's a bid based system so wouldn't all keywords begin at 0.01$ until they are really popular and then it becomes a requirement to bit more than 5$ or their is a chance your advert wont display?

If im right this can only mean one thing CPC increase = Adsense click value increase, and I can tell you one thing I'm damn happy.

Straight up!

i guess most of the advertisers who care about the money they spend do not bid on content network.
it is just waste of money.

Who cares right now I'm getting an average of 50 cent a click, and im happy, it gives me somthing to work hard towards.. if i was getting 10$ a click i'd probably be a really nasty person telling everyone I know they suck at life.

However, because its my page impressions in the 6 figures and CTR of 0.xx% that needs improvements I really am happy and gives me somthing to work towards... I am a little heart struck when I get less impressions or less CTR but that keeps me pushing harder to earn more.

And im close to the 1000$ mark per day. (so think about it 50 cents is really damn hot)

Do you seriously believe that advertisers who use the content network month after month, year after year aren't capable of tracking their ROI or assessing the quality of the leads they obtain?

europeforvistors: i agree with what you said, the guy is being biast, he's not thinking about it in a open-minded way, content ads appear to be cheaper than search in my experience so that would even things out.
