For all UK publishers,

Do you get paid in £££ or $$$ by Google?

Can you set and let google know how to pay you, whether by £££ or $$$, or do they automatically choose it depending on the country you're in?

How does the conversion work?

I ask this because I noticed CJ asks you whether you want to be paid in £££ or $$$ (So there is a choice), does google have this choice? Is your Google account seet to pay you in £££ or $$$?

Is there a disadvantage or advantage to what currency you choose to be paid in, whether in Adsense or CJ?

Thanks.

I'm an Australian publisher, but I imagine it is the same for all 'foreigners'
I can choose between Australian dollars and US dollars in my account settings, so I imagine you would be able to choose between Sterling and USD (and possibly Euros? who knows!) in your account settings.

Yeah but I am asking whether there is an advantage to be paid in USD or GBP, or in your case, Australian dollars. Does one makes it more favourable than the other, concerning conversion rates.

PS. I looked in my account settings, where is exactly the option to change currency method, I can’t find it.

Thanks

Well, as up until last week .au publishers could only be paid by cheque, it was always to my advantage to get AUD cheques, as it avoided the processing fees of foreign curency cheques.
I am not sure, but I think I still want the local currency payment as it probably avoids bank fees.
Google claims to be using current conversion rates from their bank, which should mean that payment in local currency does not involve a penalty.

To see this section, click on 'My Account' tab, scroll down to 'Payment Details' and click '[edit]', click 'continue' and you are presented with a drop down of currencies

HIH!
I am still waiting for my test deposit to arrive so I can confirm my bank account details! <thrums fingers> :)

Yeah but I am asking whether there is an advantage to be paid in USD or GBP

It all depends on the amount your bank charges, and the rate of exchange.

In my case I tested it one month and concluded that the best was to keep in US$ as even with bank charges etc it worked out that I made more than if G sent me a local currency cheque.

Of course the more you make, the bigger the difference, but this will differ from country to country and from bank to bank.

You can select the payment method in the AS area under your account, there is an area to select whether you want EFT, currency etc.

Google can pay directly into a UK bank in pounds, or allow the dollar conversion. At last time of checking (5 months ago) Google could not pay directly into a UK bank account held in US funds!

So, IMHO the best solution is to have Google pay in US dollars into a UK bank account that is in US Dollars. However, due to the "Stange" IBAN numbers (LMAO) the last I heard is that Google couldn't do it.

So the simple answer is that the best way to get paid in the UK for Google Adsense is not currently available.......Hopefully some Google Employee will correct me now and tell me that they have fixed it!

I have my money paid into the bankin £, Google do the conversion. At some point someone has to convert $ to £. Nat Wesr used to charge me £16 per transaction to do it and gave me a suspiciously low exchange rate each time, but Google just convert using whatever the going rate is, and I'm a lot better off nowadays. As well as the money coming through very quickly.

Google convert at the mid-market exchange rate. It's better than you'll get at any bank unless you just happen to have a mate there who will convert a US Dollar cheque at the business rate for free!

To change to Sterling go into My Account:

Payment Details > edit > Continue > whatever currency you wish

I suppose I should go with google paying in £££, right?

How about CJ, for those whoa re with CJ, the problem with CJ is you can’t change and test which is best. You can only choose once at whether you want £££ or $$$.

Another question,

Say you choose to be paid in £££.

Google pays $100 minimum, so when the USD tab reaches say $100, Google converts that and pays you around £60 GBP?
