I lost my October cheque! Bit silly I suppose but there you go. Have written two mails to adsense support and had no reply which is probably not surprising considering the holiday period.

Sorry to hear that. As you've already contacted Google you've probably done all you can right now. Remember that it's the accounts department that will take care of your issue, and they're probably out until next week - or if they're at work they're probably in 'holiday' mood ;)

I'm sure it will get sorted out, but you may have to be patient about it.

Good luck,

I agree with 2oddSox. I would also search high and low for it also, if you have just misplaced it - it will likely take some time for them to place a stop payment on it and confirm it has not been cashed before they will issue a new one. And many companies will charge you a fee for having to stop payment on your check - not sure if Google will do this or not, but it is a possibility.

it was lost in a country in which I am not at present....so finding it is now not a possibility anymore! :-(

but i did look for it like mad for two days over Christmas. you can imagine how much I was in the mood for singing carols!

is there any benefit to be gained from ringing my bank? A cheque payable to me should be pretty watertight as far as security is concerned. Shouldn't it?

If there is big money involved I would phone Google rather than wait for a canned reply by email. Not sure your bank would be much help, at least not without a cheque number.

Google should be able to stop the cheque as I am sure they will have a record of the cheque number issued against your account. It wouldn't be unreasonable of them to charge you an "admin fee" for doing this; as they will incur bank charges for stopping the cheque.

Do the AdSense T&C's say anything about loosing your cheque? Does the AdSense admin interface tell you the cheque number that has been sent to you?

A cheque payable to me should be pretty watertight as far as security is concerned. Shouldn't it?

Unfortunately for you, that is not how it works. Certainly in the UK there are those "money shops", often found in the slightly less up-market areas of town, that will cash a cheque made payable to anyone. This is under an agreement with the bank that the money shop will underwrite any loss if the cheque is returned unpaid. The "money shops" cover this risk in their fees.
