Why should i care about eCPM?

Can someone explain to me (or point me to a previous thread) why I should be concerned about low eCPM and/or low CTR?

i've read so many times that we should remove ads from poor performing pages.. buy WHY? does my eCPM effect my CPC or smartpricing or something?

If you have a low eCPM with adsense then prehaps some alternative ad source would be better suited for you site. Its telling you what you can expect to earn if you show 1000 ads. If an affiliate can get you a higher return for 1000 impressions maybe your site is better suited to use them (or both!) Its all in experimentation!

overall my eCPM and CTR is "ok".. but i have one page with a VERY low eCPM and L O W CTR, like .02% .
This one page has a different type of content and a different type of reader than the rest of my site.

I was worried (based on other posts) that the low eCPM on this one page could somehow dillute or bring down the earnings on the rest of my site - hence my question..

so, will this ONE low earning page somehow lower the rest of my earnings?
