Statistics and Adsense not Corroborating

Hi, my adsense reports and website statistics are not corroborating, according to awstats, yesterday I received 19 visits, and 441 hits.

However, according to adsense, I've had just 9 page impressions.

I have ads on the majority of my pages bar the forums, however, from that, there surely must have been more than 9 impressions?

This has happened for the past week, before I was receiving impressions of about 50+ a day, but I'm pretty sure that was just me working on the site, as the last few days I've deliberately visited my site little or no times.

Is this normal?

opera14, if you do a site search, or google search on forum89 and awstats, you'll find lots of threads about this topic, such as: [webmasterworld.com...]

Google also tells me page impressions are 1,000s less than my stats tell me. Have you looked at your raw logs? How much of the traffic is spambots and spiders?

Google's stats are very reliable. In fact both awstats and Google are most likely correct, they're just measuring different things. As wigwambam suggests, look at spiders as the probably source of the apparent discrepancy.
