Does Google care where your traffic comes from?

Do they care where..

I have a site for a nightclub in a college town. There are several pictures of our customers on our site, all have Adsense ads. I have heard that several of the girls who's pictures appear on our site put a link to their picture page in their AOL Instant Messenger and other Chat Profiles.

I have been told Google does not like traffic from places such as this, though I really have no control over it, and as long as no ones profiles says anything other than "My Picture" or something similar, why would google care?

personally I see nothing wrong with this method.

its an old and tested model in the adult/escort arena dating back a few years to drive traffic from user profiles etc.

others may feel otherwise.

crucial thing is what are the ads about, are they on topic in any shape or form.

Since there isn't much content on picture pages usually the ads seem to be based on what the caption reads. Some are somewhat random, other ads fit nicely on a night club site. Things like Dance Wear, Glowing Jewlery, etc..

In some cases where the caption might be "Nice Cleavage" or something silly like that we get Breast Enhancement Ads, or on a picture from one of our charity Casino nights we get casino related ads.

It is not important to us what ads come up, we asume if people are interested they will click and if not they won't. I just don't want google to ban us if a majority of our traffic is coming from peoples chat profiles, though I'm not even certain how that would be tracked.

welcome to webmasterworld.

dont think the traffic source alone should be a problem at all,

Welcome to Webmasterworld "bar_site_guy"

If you are concerned about your site content contact google just to clarify the situation

It will save having the dreaded email to remove adsense from your site

They could have an issue with the charity casino nights, since they do not allow AdSense on gambling related content. That could be "related" enough to cause a warning or suspension, so you might want to follow up with them.

I agree with Jenstar. Your site content is what Google cares about. I don't think they have any concern about where your traffic comes from. Even without the casino night content, a nightclub site in general could be a violation of the AdSense Program Policies since it is "adult or mature content."

I wouldn't think they would care that it's a night club. They did approve the sight, and it's really just a local bar. Thats ok isn't it?

If this was the site you used for your AdSense application, apparently they think it's OK. I'm a bit surprised though.

Does anyone else consider a nightclub an "Adult" content site? We promote live music, dancing, sell food, have teen dance nights etc...

Well, the only people whose opinion matters is the AdSense Team ;) But if you applied for AdSense using that nightclub domain, they would have made an issue of it then. Did you apply with this site, or another one?

I applied with the clubs site so I guess I feel safe. My initail concern was the amount of traffic I think I am getting from peoples chat profiles. There are about 15 people who use pics on the site in their aol profiles.
