Following the Opera's display of Adsense Ads, why not ISPs (like AOL) display Context Ads (like Adsense) in a frame (like Ask Jeeves) when their user visits a website.

Since ISPs are majorly into blocking pop-ups, they could get rid of intrusive ads (like annoying banners and pretty much everything). Even ISPs could offer a subsidized monthly plan, if the users permit to have Context Ads along the websites they surf.

This could be a win-win for users (pain-free surfing), ISPs (more $$) and advertisers (wide reach). Are you aware of any ISPs thinking along these lines? Me thinks Context Advertising is about to explode.

Or am i crazy?

There are some free host sites that place AdSense onto all the sites that are hosted on their server - but these place the code right on the actual page, not within a frame outside of the actual content. Once frames are involved, it becomes much more difficult. The problem with frames is that AdSense targets ads to whatever is in the frame the AdSense code is on (ie. the top frame the ISP would use), so it won't target itself to the frame that actually has the main content in it.

An ISP could theoretically place the AdSense in a floating layer above the content, but last week, someone reported that they were asked to remove AdSense code from this kind of layer.

I think the lawsuits would probably explode, too. I'm already blocking Opera because I won't allow my content to be used in this way.

I believe it is a copyright violation and unfair trade practices to show advertising targeted to content, in a frame around that content.
