tracking link unit clicks

will the old adsense tracking code work?

I've just started using link units and I was wondering if the old javascript code to track adsense clicks will work or can be easily modified to track clicks there (even if they don't pay).

If this has been discussed before, my apologies as I cannot find any other threads on the topic.

No.
While you can use javascript to track that an 'adlinks' unit has been clicked on, you could have told that through channels.
You can't tell what happens on the adlinks-results page as it is on Google's server, not one you have scripting access to.
