Will Adsense pick up content in divs with display = none?

regarding the html code

For a help system, I wanted to store some content that doesn't necessarily need to be on the page unless the person wants more info on how to best use the page.

Anyone know if that will still get picked up? I'm hoping so, it's pretty relevant :(

If the content is about how to use the page, why would that be relevant to the content on which the ads are based?

This sounds like a way to create hidden text, and Google generally doesn't approve of that.

Why couldn't you put it at the foot of the page, below even your navigation elements and link to it via an anchor? A bit more old-fashioned than your hidden div, but more likely to pass muster.

I agree, it doesn't sound like it would or should normally be relevant enough to be an issue.

I use this trick on one site as mouseover help, so I know there are legitimate uses for it, but it can get you banned from Google's SE and it certainly shouldn't be used to try to improve AdSense targeting.

hmm, that first one is an option...

I keep the site very sparse on content since it's more function than form. The help text would likely be larger than the normal content on the page, since the rest is usually a form for one of the many tools on the page.

If google would read the hidden text, it would provide better targeted ads. I see what you're saying though. I think I'll have to craft a blurb up top with some general info on what the page does and then just provide the link for more detailed help.

As a coder, I'm usually more function than form :)
