Hey all,
I'm kind of curious as to any experience/knowledge any of you have using AdSense on a "search" site you've designed.

What I have is unique site in the field I'm targeting, and I think its got some potential. I've got a searchable index of quite a bit of specific information from sites I've personally filtered. My main page is pretty simple, just a search box, horizontal AdSense banner below it, you can see everything immediately. I get my best CTR here.

When a search goes though, I've got results on the left and an AdSense banner ad on the right...my ads here are very targeted but I'm somewhat dissappointed in the CTR of these ads. Anybody had any success here? My total CTR is roughly 1.6% I think.

I must say I'm pretty pleased with how I've done so far with my site being open only a week, but I know its always possible to do better.

Is this a site or an MFA fake search engine "site"?

Do you have real wanted content or ads and "links"?

Nitrous,
That's not what it is at all. It's essentially a searchable index of links to various fishing report pages that are updated by shops, outfitters, etc. They are indexed according to location and I programmed a script to make it all searchable. There is a real lack of something like this in that niche. So, no, it's not just a BS page filled with advertising and nothing of any interest to anybody.

Take off the banner on the right and put a large rectangle ad with no border before the search result.

makes a little sense

sleestak240,

Are you actually providing your own content, pumped out by you, or are you just using everyone elses work and then wanting to get paid for it.

It sounds like mini Google.

Are you actually providing your own content, pumped out by you, or are you just using everyone elses work and then wanting to get paid for it.

Does Google always provide Google's own content?
