One of the sites I run AdSense on is a very small site with well under 1000 PV a day. One day this month I had an incredible day. I have had ads on this site for well over a year and I have never anything like this on this particular site. I think I made about 10 times what a usual day is. And it was just one day only.

Well, I was thinking that maybe it might be due to a new AdWords advertiser starting a site targeted campaign and either not knowing what they were doing or possibly making a mistake when pricing their CPM budget. Once seeing their mistake, cancelling the campaign or lowering the CPM bid.

This is NOT supposed to be a thread about the up and downs of AdSense, this is a one day phenomenon that happened to one of my sites. All the others are generally steady.

I am an advertiser also and there have been times when I have tried to make campaigns and all of a sudden I have spent hundreds of dollars with no conversions. I have an agency that usually does my advertising, but I had a wild hair at the time and thought I knew what I was doing.

Does anyone agree that is is probably what happened or the publishers that are also advertisers, have you ever made a costly site targeted campaign mistake?

I am not worried about it at all, I am just posting a theory.

Just as an EXAMPLE only.

364 days out of the year, you consistently make 10 dollars a day, and 1 day, you make 100 dollars. This is not a normal up and down fluctuation.
