1000% Ctr?

My CTR is 1000% from abnormal clicks of over 100 clicks on page impressions of less than 10. I have written an email to adsense-support@ google.com . I got this email somewhere from this forum. Is this the correct email to write to or should I log into my account and send through the "contact us"?

I feel really insecure with this as I have read a few times in this forum that people have had their accounts closed after some high CTR of maybe 200-300%. These things are totally out of our control. Should we be penalized by that? Hmm...If some malicious competitor go around clicking others' ads creating high CTR, what defense do we have? Please offer your thoughts on this and also what else I should do.

I have not taken the Adsense off that page. There have not been further attacks for more than 12 hours. Should I take them out from that page? Or should I just wait for Google response? Will my account be closed? All the efforts I have put in for about 3 months will go down the drain if that happens...

Thanks

You have done the right thing by emailing Adsense. I would remove the ads from the site asap. The only thing you can do now is get down on your knees and pray.

The fact that Google recently had to pay some millions toa legal suite accusing it of allowing fraudulent clicks actually makes such instances more worrisome.Anyway, now that you have mailed them, hope for a positive response.

Thanks for replies. Since I have already emailed them, do you think I should also contact them through the "contact us" after logging into the Adsense account or should that suffice for now? And any ideas how long normally would they take to respond? Btw, I have taken the ads off the affected blog as suggested. I guess there is nothing more I can do at this moment....

Anybody else who has CTR 1000% experiences? Were your account cancelled or did you survive? I guess those who have their accounts cancelled are longer in these forums, so the cancel rate could be quite high...anyway, hope for the best...and prepare for the worst...I have never even clicked 1 false click even by accident as I am very careful...but still at the whims of click attacks...what can I say?

Same thing happened to me although it was less than 1000%. They deactivated my account and provided no information other than "we have detected invalid clicks." It doesn't seem to matter to them that the invalid clicks are not my doing because on appeal I got the exact same statement devoid of real information. (But signed with the heartfelt "we hope you understand") LOL.

For this reason, if you get banned I think it will help that the ads were removed. Even though they will detect the clicks you can counter with the fact that you took them down right away. I wish I had done that. Instead I assumed that Google would spot those clicks and simply not charge the advertisers nor pay me for them.

If I were doing this again, knowing what I now know, I would create a seperate AdSense account for a high visibility site. This would have compartmentalized the damage and not taken down the whole AdSense house.

Hope it does not happen to you but I think you were smart to take the steps you did.

Good luck!

Hi,

I believe that I have heard G say that they prefer that you post your worries from the contact-us within the AS login, presumably since that immediately ties your email to the right account without G having to guess...

So, I'd post a repeat of your original mail in there.

And maybe taking down the ads until you have a resolution would show G that you are not trying to defraud them and cover your backside...

Rgds
