Throw yourself on a sword, then write to Google and beg forgiveness!

(Ignore me, I don't know a thing about adsense ... I just thought I'd bump your message to the top because I think you need immediate advice from somebody who does know a thing or two about adsense!) :)

You should email google, tell them what happened and apologize.

Oh, one more. Don't make it a habbit either. I think I accidentaly clicked my ad once last year, emailed them right away - no problem.

Seek out a priest and confess.

Couple of Hail Mary's and you'll be good as new.

One click I wouldn't worry, just don't become a nun and make it a habit.

I don't want to sound too harsh, but in my opinion you should get banned. Why? Because if I could not click on my ads, then you should not click on your ads. Come on dude, get hold of yourself. You clicked your own ad and as a consequence you should be banned. Why? Imagine what would happen if 100,000 Google publshers accidentially clicked on ads. What a waste of advertising revenues.

rubbish. go on with building your website and make sure it won't happen again.

don't spam the adsense team with that kind of crap. they have better things to do than to waste their time with that. what will they do if you email them? they send you a canned response, that you are to make sure this won't happen again, otherwise you get banned. this is what you should know already.

Repent.

(by giving up ads and just provide a free public service)

Good karma -- priceless!

Geez Toldan, it was just ONE CLICK, not a banning offense exactly

That nonsense happens by accident too testing your own site.

I've reported a few that happened and have no clue if they did anything but send me a boilerplate response and delete my email as I didn't notice revenue removed.

I click on other adsense ads regularly. Why not? If I believe that a website is offering good service, I will leave a tip by clicking on an ad.Everybody should be doing that. There is no such thing as a free lunch. If you like the content of my site, then either leave some donation, click on the ads, or get lost and never come again! I am in business of making money, not pampering you!

You clicked your own ad and as a consequence you should be banned. Why? Imagine what would happen if 100,000 Google publshers accidentially clicked on ads. What a waste of advertising revenues.

Both of these posts are yours. What side of the fence are you on? Denisl was just asking for advice for something many have done. I guess it would be ok if he came to your site and left a donation.

Denisl you will probably be ok; however, it would probably be best not to repeat in the near future.

The click likely shows up in your stats page with no revenue associated with it, in which case the advertisers are not charged.

I think Toldan may have been joking. Humor, ar-ar. :)

IBill, very funny, ROFLMAO!

denisl, You are doomed, doomed, DOOMED I say!

Really though I would not get too upset over one click. Now 1 dozen would make one a tad nervous. :)

It will be o.k. I don't think one click will make a difference. You aren't doomed. You aren't going to hell (being banned). You will live to see another day. Praise your "higher power!"

;~)

Hmm, can you tell I'm sleepy...

Thanks for the helpful (and not so helful ) replies. It was late last night here in Spain but is now a sunny morning.
The click now shows in the logs but with no revanue so hopefully I can ignore it.

The accident happened suprisingly easily - had several pages open while searching for possible link exchanges and suddenly noticed something of interest - so clicked.

By the time I noticed it was my own page that I clicked on, it was too late.

I don't intend to make a habit of it!

Translated: the advertiser leaves the tip.
