Internet giant Google Inc. has announced it has agreed to settle the “click fraud” suit brought against the company by smaller firms who claimed to have paid for bogus sales referrals. The bogus referrals are generated through “click fraud”. Google will pay US$90 million to settle the suit.

Looks like click fraud may wind up being a bigger problem than Google is letting on.

Yeah you can find the link to the entire story on all the news outlets.

I thought they caved in rather easily. I mean, a simple search of the term "adsense banned" would show enough evidence for me that google is working hard against clickfraud.

I wish they let us monitor clicks better so we could prevent clickfraud on our own sites.

The attorney for the complainants was on CNBC saying the main reason for bringing the suit was because of the existence of software that allows one to commit click fraud against a competitor. It must be, or have been, effective or the suit wouldn't have any merit.

Also, I wonder if the recent volatility in publisher earnings is a result of Google refunding click payments for a greater number of suspicious clicks that might be considered click fraud? My EPC hasn't even begun to recover yet.
