Google Breaks AdSense TOS

The AdSense Advertisement program in the news daily WORLDWIDE... Google is breaking their own TOS by calling attention to their advertising program & ads!

Anybody & everybody is learning too many details about the AdSense program. I think this can only be a BAD thing for the program, as educating the consumer about what a "contextual ad" is will help them to identify & avoid clicking on them. Many already complain about "ad blindness" on the Net, especially in respect to Banner Ads. This attention to AdSense Ads may cause consumer "ad blindness" for text ads too!

While some advertsisres will rejoice and think they will receive "better converting traffic" as only interested parties will be clicking on their ads, the reality is that we will all suffer as hardly anyone clicks on ads.

Consumers HATE advertisements... The popularity of the use of TiVo to eliminate advertisement from their TV programming has adversely effected the TV ad industry. Similarly, when the consumer learns what an AdSense Ad looks like, most will opt NOT to click on them.

I've been watching my CTR steadily erode the longer Google's Revenue Woes remain HEADLINES... They are now @ 55% of my "normal" click through rate... given mostly the SAME advertisers that have been being displayed on my site for over a year and a half.

Hopefully this will pass... and most people will forget about Google AdSense ads... Google must get this problem behind us all and get the entire subject OUT of the daily news (IMHO)... HIGHLIGHT NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, or something... PLEASE get the spotlight off of AdSense. Thank you in advance, Google!

My CTR has stayed steady, or even gone up slightly, over the more than two years I've been in the program.

Are you sure there isn't something other than bad publicity about Google that is causing your declining CTR?

On the other hand they need as many potential advertisers as possible to be aware of AdWords and to use it.

The TOS is a policy that applies to publishers. Not Google. Google's interests and responsibilities are different from the advertisers, different from the publishers. Non-issue.

My CTR has also risen very much during the course of almost 2 years... from around an average of 2.5% to around 20% click through rate....

All the more reason, when I see my CTR plummet from an average of 20% to today's 11.5%... a dramatic drop over the past several days... SOMETHING is cause people NOT to click. Same adevertisers... same ads... same ad placement... same ad colors... same content...

What has recently changed the past several days? Google's Advertising Woes in the newspapers, online news & on TV 24 hours a day on CNN... The "talking heads" on MSNBC analyzing the problem with AdSense in detail... "click fraud"

HELL the entire INTERNET knows about Google's problem now... which means PROBLEMS for Adword advertisers & adsense publishers.

nonni - my mention of Google breaking its own TOS is merely literary sensationalism to highlight the issue... NOT meant to be taken as factual....

For what its worth... I have the idea out in the open in public domain...

GOOGLE KNOWS whether they have a growing problem or not, and can act accordingly... And THAT is my intention for this message... THIS particular problem is beyond the scope of us little publishers to solve... (Yes I know... some of you are BIGSHOT publishers - don't want to belittle your efforts)
