Is this reasonable? I feel like it should be doing a bit better. Granted, I only have 1 ad per page because my site caters to an audience that would balk at lathering the whole page with ads.

Could be. If it's a site that mainly attracts pre-teen girls and features mostly ads for expensive spa retreats that they could never hope to afford, then you're probably being vastly overpaid. If it's a site that mainly attracts doctors and lawyers that are shopping for gifts, and the ads are mainly for Rolexes and diamonds, then you are totally getting ripped off.

Have you looked at the products/services being advertised on your site? Does your typical visitor seem like someone who is going to be highly likely to purchase those particular products/services? Are they products/services that cost $1, $10, $100, or >$1,000?

If you were selling those products/services, is your website a place you would really want to sink a lot of ad dollars into, or are there other websites that are clearly much more likely to attract qualified buyers?

It may be better to go to affiliate ads. Adsense is not always the best way. If you can put the right affiliate ads on your site they will do better most of the time. You just have to know your audiance.

dagamaggot: this is a very common story with many kinds of sites. Forums/community sites, jokes sites, and games sites come to mind. (It's not true for all sites of this type, just fairly common.) Also, it's quite varied: for example, some sites are huge money makers, while others make zip, even in very similar topics! (Similar to the extent that, if the two things were classes, they'd both be offered in the same department in school.)

Without totally giving it away, approximately what kind of site is it?

Do check out your pages to see if the targeting makes sense, though, and also I agree that you might want to look into affiliate programs for things that your site's visitors might be interested in.

It is hard to say without knowing anything about your site.

My page views average about 25,000 a day also. There are many sites with similar traffic earning 00,000 monthly.

I only have a minor fraction of your traffic and I make (a little) more than $10,- a day...

Yeah, me, too. I have 1/10th of your impressions and the same earnings. Honestly, I don't think I would keep adsense on my pages if I were in your situation. There are so many other ways to make much more money especially with the traffic you have.
Just try something new and don't give up.

I'm in much the same boat as the original poster, if not worse. Everyone is mentioning affiliate advertising. To get into this, do you just use a "wait for them to contact you" approach? Do you seek out advertisers?

Yes it is reasonable. It all depends on what kind of site you have. I had over 900,000 page impressions on valentines and made little over $200. Some people make that with less then 500,000 impressions.

jfodale: There are probably thousands of affiliate programs out there. Sign up for Commission Junction, Amazon Associates, LinkShare, etc. (It's free for publishers.) Then just look through their many different programs. CJ and LinkShare have everything from retail sales (computers, flowers, tchotchkes, everything) to dating services and credit card/loan programs. Amazon, of course, has not just books but also toys, clothing, jewelry, and a bazillion other products.

Linkshare used to have CPM and CPC programs, but they didn't pay all that much. (The max I saw was 10 cents a click, and I don't remember how much the CPM programs were.)

There are also other ad companies out there. Not all of them are "Punch the monkey" junk ads.

There are a lot of things you can try.

I think it is really low. If I have your daily pageviews with my eCPM and CTR, I would be earning $1,500 per day. My traffic is lower than yours, but my earnings are soooo much higher.

With Adsense, your mileage varies and it is hard to compare one's metrics with another.

You must have a problem with ad placement and your subject.

I don't even get 25 thousand impressions per day but make 30 times more.

Just because you get more impressions does not mean more money. Matter of fact the more traffic you get often times the lower your ecpm is. But if you are making $10 a day getting more traffic should get you more per day. I would give yahoo a try they might give you higher paying ads. It sounds like you are already getting yahoo type targeting might as well try it.
