ad links totally useless

Yes, it's very annoying when the link unit categories promise something, then fail to deliver that something on the actual links page. Bait and switch. This more than anything will encourage ad blindness, at least for link units.

Still, I wouldn't agree that ad links are "totally useless." Despite all their faults, they are still my best performing, most reliable ad types.

My adlinks do quite well but it does irritate me when an when the ads shown don't fit the link title. I'm sure this must irritate visitors as well. I'd dump the adlinks if they didn't do so well.

It probably depends on the site and the topic whether adlinks will work for you.

Why don't you send Google an email with the pages and link units that are having a problem. I'll bet they can manually fix them for you.
