is it okay to bounce ideas for websites that hope to make a buck or two off of adsense on this website?

If so I want to ask your opinion on a few things.

I'd have a look at this thread before you do any posting - [webmasterworld.com...] Generally speaking only talking about 'widgets' is allowed. If you can fit your ideas into very general terms you might be okay.

Thanks for asking, and welcome to WWW.

The forum discussions here tend to be about how to implement adsense for maximum return, all issues surrounding adsense, and a bit of thread drift here and there.

Discussions don't tend to focus on what content area's are good ones to profit from. We tend to assume you have already found your niche and want to know how to get the best out of adsense. A lot of posters ask "what are the best paying keywords to make a fast buck", and sometimes get a bit of a roasting!

There are a couple of areas that perform notoriously badly. One being forums, dynamic content can result in poor targetting hence poor returns, and chasing the $80 per click keywords doesn't pay either. We get the odd thread on that one where the poster is wondering why they've set up a site and are only getting 2c per click.

If you are looking for a topic, one piece of advice is to find one you have an interest in so that your site can become a useful addition to the web. That way you can monetise it in several ways - not just adsense. Content is king, so have good quality content that people are genuinely keen to read - nobody goes to a site to read the ads do they?

I know that it can take a while for a site to take off, but believe me it's an effort worth making. There are some major players in this forum that started with a small hobby site and adsense is now their major source of income. In my case, adsense pays for family holidays, and my wife no longer works at a crappy part time job. So stick at it!

In a nutshell, please post away and we'll try and help, but it might be an idea to find areas you are interested in to help us to help you!

I for one am happy to talk about ideas.
You will get accused of being mercenary but I think most people have more sense.

One of the common models is to attempt to buy clicks on a keyword, offering a low bid price on AdWords, then 'sell' them on at a higher price on the page.

It doesn't work because no matter how low your bid and high the sell price, you can't get a high enough conversion to break even.

Thanks!

I have read thru the TOS, and now I realize that this site is hard-core. I'm going to spend some time browsing the existing threads (aka lurking) but you'll hear back from me before long.

I have had a site up for quite some time actually running adsense that only brings in about $20 USD a month. I thought that this was just the way it goes, until reading through these threads!

I hope to learn more so I can take full advantage of what my site and adsense has to offer.

Thanks for maintaining such an informative site!
