I want to ask something though ....
One of my sites is movies related (generally - it shows info about next episodes of tv shows on a daily basis). I post some news in there (also daily).
The problem I have with adsense is, that the ads are (almost) always the same. Even if I put a big news (with a lot of text) it wouldn't matter for the google ads (at least untill the crawlers decide to crawl the site), but that's not what I need.
Ok ok, I'll try to explain it better.
Site with info about movies (therefore alot of crappy 0.01cent ads "Download TV Shows" etc.).
Daily updated news (which can't trigger the ads, cause the news are on the home page, aka / so adsense doesn't really know there's new content, untill it crawls the page in few weeks or so).
The ads (Download TV Shows etc) are constant - I cant seem to be able to force 'em to change (I've tried to focus google on particular texts with "<!-- google_ad_section_start --><!-- google_ad_section_end -->" but so far there's no result.
Can anyone suggest a working method of adjusting the site, so that every time I post something new on the front page, google ads will at least try to adjust themselves to it.
That's actually my second goal. My first is (if possible) to make it so everytime a user refreshes the site, he'll get different ads. I rely mostly on returning users, so the CTR is pretty low (after all they're seeing the same ads over, and over, and over again, every single day!).
Thanks for reading till the end ;)
what if I started with the little thing, that 2 of my other sites made almost 15k in less than a month? (2 new sites, keep in mind ....)
the site I was talking (above) is not my primary one, but the one I put the most effort into ... (and it makes only about $100/month).
It's kinda silly when you think about it
sites that you "just come up with" make thousands of dollars in a matter of week, while sites that you put your mind into (do SEO, update the content etc.) make significant traffic, but almost no income.
BTW, greatest day in adsense, my 2nd day with one of my sites, 1.200 $, (still rounding, as I'm not quite convinced I can post the actual data yet).
And yeah, the idea of this post is just to say hi guys, to bump the topic a bit, and hopefuly - find a solution to the problem above - I'm kinda of optimisation freak :) If not, just hi :)
I guess the ads just try to match your content.
Can't you try to write about movies in an other way now and then? Like, making specials about the widgets used in this and that movie?
Or perhaps you could add some kind of "disclaimer" to every article that would generate other ads?
I guess as a new member of this site, just asking the question on my mind wasn't enough :(
And for about 2k permanent users (opening the site everyday and browsing 5-6 pages of it) it's not a good solution
I wondered if there's a way so that the page won't show the same ads every single time the user refreshes it (even if in 2-3 weeks the ads changes).
Maybe some parameter in the url, like index.php?date=24.06.2006 (just an example)
I guess that would trigger the media bot to crawl the site more frequently, although it's not a very good solution for a front page :(
I'm frankly not sure this would work but it certainly couldn't hurt to try.
