2006: AdSense Lower than 2005

I see in the forums how everybody seem to be doing better on Adsense, but for the last month and a half my numbers being terrible :) am I the only one?

Ps: I have about the same traffic, but my alexa ranking went down considerably, does this has any influence also?

Are you sure you have the "same" traffic? Do your logs show that your traffic sources have changed?

Is your site (sites?) highly seasonal in that this time of year you have a different kind of traffic? Are your visitors typically "looking" this time of year or "buying"?

well traffic is off not by much, about 50 unique visitors less, and last year january was bad but it pick up on february thats why I was expecting to pick up this month :) so the pr ranking has nothing to do with google adsense right,

Ah one thing I think I am getting more foreign traffic that could be it too, that they pay less for foreigh traffic

We didn't want to tell you this, but, yes, you are the only one. Absolutly everyone of the rest of us are having a record breaking week.

You are not the only one. My earnings are down approx. 30% from the last quarter of 2005. This month is even lower than Jan. 2006. I am hoping it will improve in March.

January was good.

February sucks.

Hard to make a pattern out of that. Could be weather, could be niche, could be Olympics, could be almost anything.

Since I have always considered adsense to be "free" money (that is, I don't live off of it, and I only budget it in the most conservative way) I am not particularly worried. Your mileage may vary.

Holidays and I guess, winter, hit me pretty hard. I was doing great but it has been a downhill slide for 4 or 5 months now, ctr and ecpm down traffic up. -sigh- will it never end? Was aiming for the ups club but now.....who knows?

I get a good earning day and that is followed by some dismal ones....oh well maybe next month.

Today it seems recovering from the crash from Feb 14.

I'm having my best month ever.

Complainers tend to post more than people that are content, same with software and tech support as you never hear from happy customers. Hopefully AdSense will turn back around and you'll be content soon too :)

I don't usually complain about my earnings as I am happy to get what I am making but back sliding does tend to get a tad depressing. :)

yes, that is normally the case. but in the last weeks i only see one record breaking high-earner after another in the posts. that is very significant and uncommon.

no, you're not. my earnings are way down. still decent but since the middle of last year about -50%. steady traffic but slightly lower ctr and much lower epc, barely recovered in all the time. so i am supposed to be the only one whose top-earning month dates half a year ago :(

and i thought advertising spendings increase. dunno, maybe grow with the market visitor-count-wise..

My earnings are way up, too. I'm having my best month ever. Yesterday was my first day above $15. Two days earlier my first day above $10.

January was very good. February (with the poor targeting last week) is down. With Presidents day and vaca next week, I'll consider Feb. done and wait for a good March.

February has been running a few percentage points lower than January for me, but that may be partly because I've removed the AdSense code from some pages, including my home page. I do think targeting has been a factor, though. In fact, off-the-wall targeting was what prompted me to pull the AdSense code from my root directory. (It just looked stupid to have an AdSense leaderboard with ads for New York and San Diego hotels on the home page of a European travel site--even if the ads were performing well, which I very much doubt.)

Earnigns went down right since new year, I'm down to 1/3 eCPM compared to december. Luckily traffic went up so I'm actually earning the same as before. :)

Too bad though, had it stayed the same I'd be in the UPS club now :/

My earnings from dec - jan went up 50%, looks like it will be the same this month as the last. Even with my host going out of business and having to find a new one ASAP

I'm doing very well so far in 2006, breaking previous records.

My traffic is just about the same with about as many page views and click throughs as last year.

I'm finding eCPM to be down 25-30%% since Jan 17th and seems to continue slipping.

This is about the time that Adwords enabled their feature allowing advertisers to set one bid for search and one for content.

Definitely impacting us.

Interesting observation. I had higher EPC in the first half of January than in the last half, and EPC this month is down slightly. Maybe the separate bidding is a factor.

I don't think demand is down, unless Google's advertisers are all watching the Olympics, because this is my busy season and affiliate bookings are running even stronger in February than they were in January (which was a record month).

I hate to mention the obvious, but 2005 had 12 months and 2006 has one and a bit months to date! It's possibly a bit early to judge at this point in time.

you're not the only one, 2006 has been very bad for me as well. I was making $80/day in december. Then it dropped to nothing in Jan. I been making an average of $20-35/day the past few days but it's starting to go down again. Traffic is the same so that means people are still searching. It's just adsense and YPN not paying as much as before.
