new to the adsense world, but i got a question.

ive got one site that i use for personal stuff. would it be possible to run several sites off of my one domain, mask the domain, and run different ads for the different sites?

is there a penalty for doing this?

just looking to lessen my hosting costs.

For example.

if hypothetically i owned www.example.com

and i wanted to do a site on item1

and i created a site www.example.com/item1/index.html

made a site, and had google ads on it.

and i wanted to make a site about item 2, and did www.example.com/item2/index.html

both sites having the actual domain masked.

is that ok, and doable?

Hosting costs as little as four dollars a month, and you can host a dozen or more domains for that price. There's no need to mask domain names.

It is doable. However, if you cannot afford a dedicated server I suggest you get a cheap virtual private server where you can host as many site as you want.

Hi Inferno,

I wouldn't call that 'masking' domains, it's just creating sub-directories and I can't imagine why Google would have any objections to it. I have never seen anything in the Google TOS that indicates this is not allowed. IMO it's perfectly logical to organize your content in sub-directories with useful names, such as www.domain.com/redwidgets/ etcetera.

BTW; I prefer to work with sub-domains, like
[redwidgets.domain.com....]
Much cleaner and the possibilities are endless!

well, virtual hosting had crossed my mind, but i havent seen any good companies that offer it for less than 15 bucks a month. the crappier ones tend to get banned from search engines as far as i know.
