My site gets 3 million page views per month. How much would guess I would make from Adsense ads?

There's no way to say, just too many variables.

Hi totalnoob, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

Your question is a difficult one to answer as there are so many unstated variables, such as site topic and type, geolocation, and so on. Of course the biggie is whether the site will be even deemed acceptable by AdSense. In essence, you are asking "how long is a piece of string?"

Suffice it to say that, assuming your site is deemed acceptable, your earnings would probably be sufficient to make the excercise worthwhile.

I've been using Adsense ads for about a year now and my CTR is only 0.1%. So, I'm only making about $40-60/month.

I think there is a lot of room for improvement based on what I've been reading today.

Try repositioning your ads, you should be doing a lot better, I do about $50 per day on 4-5k visits.

It's a discussion forum.

You can also try Section Targeting [google.com].

That looks interesting. I'll look into that with my tech guy!

"It's a discussion forum."

If you are like 99% of the other forums out there, you're going to be on the very low end of all of the typical CPM numbers people throw out. Forums are great for padding page view statistics but they don't convert well on a CPM basis.

Well, if we could bump it up to 1-2% I would be absolutely thrilled. We'll see how it works with some repositioning etc.

You should try Google's forum optimization.

adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html

It's a notion on this board that forums don't perform well but it can be done. I have run forums with 5% CTR and over $20 ecpm.

* You have to figure out who you want to show the ads to and how many times.
* Use php to change the ad layout and size on page views.
* Don't show google ads to members - at least not on all page views.

With
1% - 5% CTR,
10 - 30 page views per visitor,
$0.10 - $1 per click, as which of most are on the lower end,

I'd say $1000 - $3000 a month. Just enough money to force you keep the ads on your site I guess. Still much more than most adsenser make. :)

You've got good traffic.

It seems to me that this thread just proves it's not the amount of traffic that's important but the type. For example I have one site that gets over 1000 uv a day and another that gets about a 100 uv a day. The site with a 100 uv makes about as much as the sites with 1000 uv. Why? The traffic to that site is targeted, people go there looking for something and the ads match what people are looking for.

if you were in my field and optimized your site, you would make about $9,000 a month. But, that really doesn't mean anything, as the others above have said.
