Does the Adsense system favor the best performing ads?

I'm trying to decide whether to activate image ads and I'm concerned that the image ads won't perform as well. Anyone know if the adsense ad system favors the better performing ads?

It's supposed to. The algorithm serves up the ads that are generating the most income, whether that's high-click-cost but low CTR or low-click-cost but high CTR.

In practice, however, there are glitches because everyone's site is different and they seem to consider only performace across they entire system.

I think it's worth a try. It might at least increase competition, even if you don't see any image ads. I allow image ads on my site, and I've only ever seem them once, on one obscure page--so enabling image ads doesn't mean you'll get them.

I'd recommend setting your account to allow both text and image ads.

Has Google set a minimum CPM rate for image ads?

Anyone know?
