Did implimenting Google Analytics affect your earnings?

Paranoia paranoia everybody's coming to get me

I implimented Google Analytics mid-day yesterday, and today my EPC is less than 1/3rd of what it has been for the past 3 weeks, and it was steadily rising. I know changes like this happen, but I'm a skeptic so I just have to pry, it's my nature.

I'd like to think I'm just having a bad day... or that G is crapping on me because their stock took a dive yesterday, but I just had to ask.

Has anyone else seen a NOTICEABLE INCREASE or DECREASE in earnings after implimenting Google Analytics to their site?

This was the only change I made in the last week other than adding content as usual.

Maybe the long tracking URL is affecting the response rate. When a customer clicks on example.com and gets example.com/urchin/?XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX instead, then it may turn them away. I noticed this when I implemented it on my site and took it off. Although, I'm sure many others have a more positive experience.

bts - I'll just assume that in your language "Get off the pipe" translates to "No NL, I haven't experienced any change in earnings after implimenting Google Analytics on my site"

And if you must know - I've been off the pipe for over a week (traveling) ;)

Hi,

No noticable change for me: using Analytics since mid-November.

None for me either. However, the advice changed for the positioning of the JavaScript for Analytics after I had implemented it.

They suggest putting it at the end of the page - I guess it's to speed up page display (which it does for me)

We implemented analytics on a couple of small sites mid November. The daily earnings before then and afterwards differ by only 1%. What you are seeing is probably natural statistical variation - see my post from last year about wanting to jump off the Golden Gate when stats change: [webmasterworld.com...]

Remember, paranoia is a delusion. You're not paranoid if they are really coming to get you :-).

I tried it on my other site (small one, no AdSense) and in few hours Yahoo dropped it off its index and its crawler restricted itself to the robots.txt file, coincidence? I think not.
(sorry not AdSense related, but maybe earnings related)

Hi Ossifer,

Where is this new placement advice? I still see the help pages that I've looked at saying to put the UA stuff in the HEAD.

PS. ASA/AWA, any official words on this?

If you go to the help in ANalytics, click on 'Installing the Tracking code', and then the only question in the Overview section 'How do I add the tracking code to my website', it mentions putting the code before the </body> tag there.

Using Google Analytics should have no affect on your AdSense earnings. I think it is probably a coincidence.

Hope that clarifies!

I signed up for a invite w/Analytics about 3-4 months ago, how long does it usually take?

I figured I was just being paranoid.

Earnings returned the next day... probably just a bad day and in the future I will TRY to restrain myself from pre-mature posting. It's just soooo hard to wait.
