Majority of AdSense Clicks Occur on Home Page

Should I Disable Ads Everywhere Else?

Ok as I have been tracking my ads I find that the pages that get alot of impressions (forums) are not getting any clicks on the ads. BUT the page that is getting the clicks (main homepage index) is the one that is getting most of the clicks. My question is should I not display ads on the forums since people are not clicking on them (I dont not serve impression ads only ppc). Yesterday I did this and my earnings were very low on usually my best day. Do you think this will bounce back because of smart pricing?

Having many impressions without clicks is not good. My suggestion would be to remove the ads from your forums and focus on driving targetted traffic towards your main content site.

If you remove the ads that will also have a positive effect on your forum members who are usually irritaed by adverts.

Also I was wondering does the Adlinks count toward impressions since they are not actually serving ads?

Yes. There is one impression given when the link unit is shown on your page, and a second impression given when someone clicks and views Google's page. A click isn't registered until they click on one of the ads on Google's page.

You might want to consider WHY people are clicking on so many ads on the home page, i.e., they're not finding what they want except on the home page, perhaps? If so, is there a way to duplicate this effect on other pages? Is it possible to create more pages like that?

Do you have any content pages or is the home page a landing page for your forum?

If it's a landing page then you may want to consider creating sections for popular topics within your niche and creating articles that address some of the more common discussions held in your forum (the newbie stuff that gets asked again and again).

Is your forum properly optimized? Are the title tags etc. showing relevant content? A well optimized forum should show up in the serps and bring in more traffic. If they don't click on ads then the traffic can turn a buck with CPM traffic.

I have other pages on the site that have adsense on them. But they may be finding too much information on them and not going to the ads for help.

This I think is my real problem. I dont feel that I am getting the serp traffic I should. I PR at 4 but I think I am getting penalized with google. I cannot really tell why but my google traffic has dropped way off. I think but not sure that it is because my site is listed with the WWW.site.com and without the WWW so I am wondering if I am getting a double site penalty for it. And this makes me wonder if I am be penalized does it grow worse with every page I make because each new page gets indexed with both sites. And if in fact this is a problem how can I fix it.... ugh...

First thing to do is check if your links back to your homepage (from within your site) are going to www or non-www.

First I would like to say thanks for the help.
Ok most of the links point to WITHOUT the WWW. But which should I be using? With the WWW or without? I can change them easy enough to www if needed but I dont know what way would be best. Also the forums (main topic of the webpage) are dynamic (of course) and are generated without the WWW and I cannot do anything about those. So being that forums create 95% of what the serps pick up and they do not have the www in them I dont know what to do. Now when the website was first created the forums had the www in them. Now the company that runs the forum software has changed the format and now it doesnt have the www in the url. I assume that is where the problem has started. But now I am stuck in the middle with some pages www and some not and I dont know how to get them all in sync and let google know that they are once it is all back on track.
