I only make 8-10 USD a day

a phpBB-forum with 4.000 site impressions

i have a phpbb-forum, 4.000 site impressions a day, ctr 1.6%, 50 clicks, the theme is religion & spirituality. i only get 8-10 $ which is nothing. what's wrong with the site? it is very well indexed in google (50.000 pages in google, well SEOed, no dynamic pages, a lot of content etc).

Keeping on this subject. How can you ensure that when someone does visit your website that there is a very good chance that they click on an ad?

I too receive about 10.00 USD a day and my impressions are in the thousands.

I own an ecommerce site selling very similar products to those I advertise for google adsense.

Because I am displaying competitor's ads I am mostly taking away quality traffic to a competitor's website.

I wouldn't mine so much if my I was making 100.00 or 200.00 a day from google adsense.

My ads run down the left navigation in clear view and fits seemlessly.

I am getting about 2000 unique visitors a day. Surely I should be getting more clicks than this, right?

What's a guy to do?

Any input on this subject would be appreciated.

Religion and spirituality is not a category that will give you a lot of money from Google ads.

JoeS is correct...the forum channel on one of my sites running phpbb gets around these stats daily:
7,000 imp 1.9% click $9.40 cpm (which by the looks of this thread are very good forum stats) can be attributed to nothing else other than the market of the site.

I would think that the ad competition for your niche is not as high, but the user body visiting your site is eager to click through to get other sources of information.

Just keep trying to get more impressions and you'll get more money! :)

edit: p.s. i just got a double click mouse with the scroll ball in the middle from apple for my imac..boy does it suck! my clicking precision really needs to improve if im going to have any success

I make 10K ad impressions/day on my forum site and generally make half what you're making. Be happy.

Yeah, I average around 5000 - 6000 impressions a day on one of my sites and it only brings in *maybe* around 5 - 8 bucks a day.

Then I have another site where it averages around 10 bucks a day for like 700 impressions.

It's not just the number of pageviews that determines how much you'll make. It's the keywords and the click-through. I wouldn't think religion/spirituality would be a high-dollar traffic area, but I could be wrong...

Build pages with quality content. Put adsense on those pages. You'll make money. More pages + more ads = More $$$. Simple formula. Try not to think about it too much.

On my fora, I get 1.5% < CTR.

My suggestion is that you designate one forum for "articles". Here you can post long, and potentially key phrase/word targeted material. Display ads only when in that forum.

Indeed the reality is that regular users who revisit a fora, will become blind to advertising. The articles in a specific forum will gain higher position, and attract new eyes, and in turn potential clicks.

Hello Ppl,
Well traffic unlike ctr is MORE uncontrollable. You can always change ad positions, experiment and somehow increase your ctr while traffic is harder to control.
I will be happy to get 500-1000 impressions per day at the moment , atleast before i get indexed.

So if anybody can give me that kind of traffic somehow then i might help them increse their CTR by a few tricks i have up ma sleeve ;) . If interested contact me on [e-mail] . Whats more , if you can get me around 3000-5000 impressions a day, i will also gladly help you in creating banners and flash stuff, or in writing quality articles in my free time.

Forums simply are low payers, I get about 300,000 page impressions a day on mine and really make very little.

Simply try changing the placement.

Make the ads transparent.

Also try placing ads in the TOP PArT of the page and use Square boxes to draw attention.

Try using some SEO Plugins/Mods too
