I agree that to succeed with AdSense you must test often. How long do you let your tests run to determine the effect? Is it based on time or on site traffic?

Thanks

you keep testing till you have tried everything, out of things to try, and there is nothing more you can do to increase your earnings (3 ways to say you do not stop testing).. And that takes as long as months to over a year .. for each test needs a week or two to really see its results, the basics could be 4 to 6 weeks, the rest is fine tuning.

Testing should be ongoing.

Or until you can't spend the money as fast as it's coming in.

Then you can take a week off.

I decided to test a different ad size yesterday. I left the test running on 1/3 of those ad units for 36 hours. This was all the information I needed. In all, it was a sampling of about 1600 impressions. I could see immediately that the change was not going to work. I have found that usually I can tell if something will work as long as it samples over 1000 impressions extended over at least a 24 hour time frame. Compare Monday samples to other Monday samples, weekend samples to other weekend samples, etc. Do further tests if your results seem borderline.
