I have one adsense account and am looking to put ads on another website.

Hi

No you can run as many sites on YOUR 1 account, as long as they are within G's TOS.

Dont ruin it by creating a site purely for profit!

You should use the same account for all your future sites unless there is a compelling reason to get a new account, that too should be done with Google's permission.
