Since the ads for particular widgets were the ones earning money, I imagine less people are looking for the widgets now that they won't get them in time for Christmas. And correspondingly, merchants are cutting back their advertising if they are out of inventory or can't deliver in time for Christmas.
My all time high was Dec 17th at a whopping $10.
Remember, if people aren't visiting, and you feel abandoned and alone, it just means that they don't like you. ;)
What is very disconcerting is that Tuesday saw my 3rd busiest traffic day of the month and the 2nd worst in earnings.
My CTR and eCPM are in realms never envisaged...roll on next week!
We're a business site and our '7-day trend lines' for number of site visitors and page impressions are showing a nice dome shape from 16th August to date. That is, with a couple of exceptions, the visitors/impressions climbed from mid August to mid September, then they were relatively flat, and then they started to decline from around December 5th. (The exceptions coincided with Summer Bank Holiday in the UK and Thanksgiving in the US).
Earnings were more variable, however, as we were initially hit by CPM Ads in mid October and then recovered after we opted out of the scheme a couple of weeks ago. On Monday, for example, we had the second lowest number of visitors (of December weekdays), but also had the highest daily earnings figure for December.
December will be a relatively poor month (just a little more than August, probably) but we're looking forward to January and February, as we are hopeful of breaking the UPS barrier one of those months. I'd say it's 7-4 against, though.
Christmas itself will of course be slow but I expect the week after Christmas to be very good as people spend their gift loot... :)
