I was just on a site with 1 Leaderboard, 1 skyscraper, 1 medium rectangle, and an adlink unit. Since the skyscraper drew an image ad and it was a large page, it didn't appear overly stuffed with google ads. The one exception was that ads by Google appeared four times on the page when three of the ads were touching. It sure would be cool if we could add ad units together in a single group and only have the 'ads by google' show up once. To keep from confusing the issue, a single border could be required around the entire block.

Personally, I couldn't do that to my pages (4 blocks) but I do have some longer ones where the only thing preventing me from putting two wide skyscrapers along the length is the fact that there would be 2 "ads by Google" links.

Visually and for professional copy writing, I agree. But here's a bit of food for thought.

Although this is a big assumption I'll give it a go or I'll have nothing to talk about.

Let's assume my sites with Google, Yahoo and Adbrite have the the same potiential click-through on their ads. In other words the ads have the same inticing quality about them. We end up with adblocks: 1) Ads by Gooooogle, 2) Ads by Yahoo and 3) Adbrite doesn't have a tagline.

My G ads have CTR's much, much higher than the other two. Do people respond to the G branding? What component/weight of CTR is branding?

Could it be that the G ads are better targeted?

Well, that's the obvious answer that I was trying to get past for the other argument's sake....

But that's not realy the issue here. I want the 'Ads by Google' there. There are places where I would like have my adlinks right under a skycraper, or right over a leaderboard. In those case, having the ads by Google twice makes things look disjointed, since in effect, it is one large area of ads by Google.
