Well I posted awhile back about how I was going to make a website that had lots of competition and generally low paying clicks and so I did, and tings have been going well.

I took some time with each article to do some link developement, especially posting quality remarks in forums with links embedded to my articles and also adding my links to resource sites that would allow it.

I am getting good traffic from my links, even though I only rank for some odd keywords nobody searches, and everything was going fine until today when I tried to monetize my site with Adsense to see what kind of ads would be targeted and - almost 100% PSA's. I knew there would be some, it is hard to get around stopwords with the subject matter I am writing about but it looks now like I may have to go back and re-write ever single article, or else find a less uptight advertising solution.

You can also contact Google support directly, as if they review your site and determine advertising is appropriate despite the stopwords, they can adjust things on their end.

Give some time to Mediapartners-Google to get acquainted with your site.

I already took adsense off, I am going to try with Chitika and Amazon, maybe I should put Adsense back on as well, I guess the hurricane victims can profit from my morbidity if nothing else...

>until today when I tried to monetize my site
As said before, you need to wait for the media partners bot to scan your pages before evaluating or deciding anyting.

Cool, I left the adsense on overnight and this morning it looks like only one page is still PSA's, unfortunately it's by far my most popular page.

Also I don't think it should have PSA's, if it stays like that another day I'l reword some phrases even though they seem pretty innocent to me.

john,
Just undertand that google bot and adsense (mediapartners) bot are diffrent bots, even if google bot scanned your pages ad they are all chached, when you place an ad, you need to allow time for adsense bot to scan and analyze your pages..

Also I don't think it should have PSA's, if it stays like that another day (...)

The matching of ads is not an instant process. The Google Mediabot first has to visit each page and calculate the most appropriate ads. Then an optimization takes place based on the actual performance of each ad and it often takes two or three weeks before the ads start to be really targeted. During this period your CPM will probably increase. There are also many reports that in the first days Google is only able to fill one ad block per page, slowely increasing to the maximum of three filled ad blocks in the weeks afterwards.

So patience is the right advice. When I started AdSense it took about a month for the CPM to settle on the current level. This level was more than 10 times higher than the initial CPM of the first two days.

Just wait and decide in a few weeks to switch to another network or stay with AdSense. Google AdSense uses an automated algorithm which has the disadvantage that the selection of ads might not be right in the beginning, but it adapts which is a major plus compared to many other ad systems where the ads are hand-picked. If those hand-picked ads are badly selected, performance will never improve.

One final remark about changing your wordings on your most important page. The Google Mediabot visits every page about every two weeks. So a change in content might take two weeks before any effect is seen.

If you also change your ad layout when you change your content it will prompt media bot to visit your site.

Groovy! No more PSA's

Didn't even have to rephrase anything.
