A New York Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2003/11/17/technology/17blog.html), "Building a Web Media Empire on a Daily Dose of Fresh Links"
describes how Moreover.com and First Tuesday entrepreneur Nick Denton uses Adsense rates to choose topics for his new blog enterprise, currently comprised of Gawker and Fleshbot.

He relies on Google's AdSense program...he picks blog subjects based on the rate Google pays for clicks on ads in specific topic areas. Among the topics of blogs he plans to start this year are computer gaming, travel and politics.

He's also and Adwords advertiser, so guess that's how he finds the high-priced clicks.

He employs three writers, spends "hundreds" on paid advertising, and makes only a few thousand on each website, which probably covers rent and half of one writer.

Plenty of people on this board routinely receive a million hits and make more money than this guy.

Building eyeballs is nice but he's only feeding visitors to pron sites. Where's the innovation in spending yourself into a hole and deriving no profit?

Why are venture capitalists looking into this? Why is the NYTimes giving this guy his fifteen minutes?

Does anybody think this guy has a chance?

The guy sounds like a bit of a knob to me.

I bet there's some lad on here with a nice site working on his own, making more money than this tosser.
