Adsense Impact - virtual hosting to dedicated IP

are there any risks or only rewards?

I've been reading a lot about virtual hosting vs. dedicated IPs. While doing this research, i found out my virtual IP hosts over 5,000 other sites... GASP...

Before I make a move and get a dedicated IP from my host, what are the implications on AdSense and on SERP results, if any. What are the rewards? Is paying an extra few bucks a month for a dedicated IP worth it?

Any help is appreciated, especially from those who made this move before.

thanks!

Most of the webmasters I believe are using virtual server. I don't think google will use this as factor to determine anything wheter adsense or serp.

What about alias hosting?

Explanation: I have one virtual hosting package that hosts 2 sites using 2 separate domains. The 2 sites have different content and are not interlinked in any way. They are 2 totally different, unique sites.

domain1.com is, obviously, the main site and is hosted in the ../www/http/ directory.

domain2.com is hosted in a different directory: ../www/differentdir/

I'm only doing this to save a couple of dollars while I develop both sites, the idea being that they will both deserve their own hosting pacakages at some point.

Any Google impact in terms of indexing? PR? What about when I move domain2.com to its own virtual host?

Sorry if this is a duplicate question--I asked something similar in New to web dev without much response.

so then the advice is to stay with a virtual IP?

I really thing none of this matters. I use FREE webspace from freeserve/wanadoo for about 12 sites. All rank and pay very well, and existed since well before adsense. Between them they average 4 to 5 thousand daily page views, and $3000 monthly.

I cannot see a few hobby sites doing better hosted
a) properly (!)
b) unique IP

You see nothing much matters really other than GOOD content that people want. Not just lots of "content" for the sake of it. My sites seem to get more traffic, every update, more natural links, and better epc because of this. Smart pricing even likes me!
