Hello and welcome to this thread. I have been reading through the posts on Webmaster World for a while now and I feel happy to have found this place, mostly because it helped me keep a constant state of motivation and trust that I can also make Adsense work for me.

I live in Romania, in Eastern Europe. We are considered to be a country "in developmnet", which, in other words, means poor :)) I started working as a freelance writer about 7 months ago and made some friends who had Adsense sites, so naturally I wanted to give this new idea a shot. My oldest site is 3 months old and I managed to get it to rank first page on most keywords, especially in Google and MSN (Yahoo doesn't like my sites that much it seems). I developed 10 new sites which are less than a month old.

However, there are a few things I don't get about how Adsense works, so I thought I would open this thread and hopefully get some competent guidelines from other WW members. So here is a starter question: I have a site on bulimia. This month it got 74 clicks, which, for a new site, I think is quite OK. However, the earnings for those 74 clicks are below $10 this whole month. Is there any way to improve this situation?

One more thing: I think it's great that a Romanian student such as myself has access to programs such as Adsense. I learned NOT to take things for granted and after having received my first check from Google this month I feel confident that I can also turn this into and interesting and rewarding business.

Regards,

Mihai

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], Mihai. You will find much useful information here, that is certain.

Your site with 74 clicks for $10 is not all that unusual - many topics only make a few cents per click. The simple rules for AdSense are just (1) NEVER click your own ads - it violates the Google terms and cheats advertisers; (2) keep developing quality content for long term success; and (3) diversify into a variety of topics. Some topics will be successful at some times of year, some with certain groups of people, some start off slow and catch on, others go off like a shot and then die quickly. Don't expect to get rich quickly - plan on developing something good that will continue to be successful for a long period of time. Brett's 26 steps [webmasterworld.com] arestill the best advice you can get.

Where in Romania do You live?

Would like to know from all Romanian AdSense publishers where they live in Romania.

Maybe I have a great offer for them.

Thanks for getting in touch!

I do not plan to get rich using Adsense, however, I do want to develop the business to a point where I will feel it gives me enough financial security to worry less about money and enjoy life :)

I live in Cluj, in the heart of Transylvania, the north western part of Romania. And I think it's great that, through forums such as this, I can connect both with fellow Romanians and people half way around the world.

Let me quickly tell you how I optimise my sites:
1. Keyword articles on the chosen topic (350 words, with the keyword repeated 5-6 times, once in the title and once in an inner H2 title).
2. Domain name with the keywords in it - such as paper-shredder-expert for example
3. Reciprocal links - I use several link exchange programs, all free - anyone interested in getting their URLs please send me a sticky mail.
4. Submission to a list of about 25 seleced directories.

BTW, even though my sites are not incredible performers yet, I did manage to sell a $20 per month acne site for $700 :)

Best,

Mihai
