Hi,
I recently joined adsence. A few days ago I saw a thread about not having the code on non English pages.
There is nothing about this at:

Google AdSense Program Policies
[google.com...]

Can someone direct me to a google page on this matter?
How do you determine the language of a page if there is more than one language used?

Thanks in advance.

Thaks Jenstar,
From the language of the answer, I can not determine a prohibition against placing the code on non specified languges pages except that the ads won't be targeted.
Any comments?

However, existing AdSense publishers may also place their ad code on pages with content in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, and have targeted ads served in the appropriate language to these pages.

Seems pretty clear to me. If I were an English, French, German, Italian or Spanish advertiser, I wouldn't want my ads appearing on one of the Asian language websites, for example, because they will receive junk clicks which just drive up advertiser costs with virtually no chance of a conversion.

I would recommend that you respect the written policy both for the advertiser and to limit your risk of hearing from Google and/or being terminated.

Hi Blue_Fin,
Thank you for your comment. Sounds logical.
I guess I will remove the code from all pages for now until I get the time to reprogram my site.
Thanks again.

Google does watch for this, so expect one of those dreaded emails from the AdSense Team, saying you are violating the FAQ/terms.

You may want to ask them when they might be opening up AdSense to whichever language it is on your site - you may get a more specific answer that they do or do not have that language in the works for AdSense.

4. Are non-English websites eligible for Google AdSense?
At this time, Google AdSense has limited non-English language support. New applications for participation in the program must be for sites with the majority of their content in English. However, existing AdSense publishers may also place their ad code on pages with content in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, and have targeted ads served in the appropriate language to these pages.

from Google adsense faq. I do not see this as a definite no_no to use of adsense on non-above-mentioned lingo_pages. I have put ads on Polish site and it attracted Polish ads. It is not geo as I am in London_UK. Its been a month and no dreaded_email yet.

Hi again,
Thank you all for your replies. You have been very helpfull.
I just finished pains takingly eliminating the code from all nonsupported language pages.
And thought up a question:
Since google can determine the language of a page, Why doesn't it just not feed an ad to that page?!

They probably don't (yet) have advertisers wanting to advertise on sites that aren't in either English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish. Although Google is an international company - the Adsense part of it is still new. They used not to allow you to put ads on pages that weren't in English - but that's now changed.

Although removing the code from pages was a good idea to comply with the Google Adsense FAQs - if you have the alternative ad tag in your code - I'm sure Google Adsense would show the alternative ad on those foreign pages it doesn't have ads for.
