Tonight I decided to go on another witch hunt with the preview tool annnnnd...
I noticed a lone ad on several of my pages that I had not noticed before (don't usually surf around my own sites much) and viewed it.
Yep, a one page wonder! I article linked nowhere, no links to anything except all the adsense ads that were in all the borders and head and foot. Oh my, ain't we got fun.
Then found another 2 MFA's that was nothing but page after page of directory links in a round robin (3 pages deep and back to the first page of links) absolutely peppered with Google ads.
Blocked those 3 ads and already my ecpm is going back up as well as earnings. Allin just 4 hours.
WHY? Why does Google do this to us and pretend they have our best interests in mind.
I would like to opt out of CPM altogether but not sure how. :(

This past week I could not figure out why my clicks were dropping, ecpm was dropping and the ctr rate was pretty much the same as were the page impressions.
Yes, that is how some of us find out about CPM/Site-Targeting ads. We discussed this at
[webmasterworld.com...]
I would like to opt out of CPM altogether but not sure how.
I was successful in having site-targeting removed for the site as mentioned in message #135 of
[webmasterworld.com...]
I simply wrote to them requesting opting out of site targeting/CPM ads, uploaded a screenshot and gave them a link showing the mistargeted ads.
In your case, explain your situation and request to opt out of CPM ads.
you would think they would at least look over the landing site before accepting the ads.
I even have mp3 ads blocked that Google was showing on my site but we are not supposed to link to? They don't make a dab of sense in the advertising dept.
What is the worst ad you have had so far that fractured their own code of ethics ie: TOS
Since &ex and mp3 is expressly denied on our websites it makes no sense so whatever to accept ads for such things, I mean, where are they supposed to match them for showing on "relevant" websites?
You do wonder sometimes. I too have seen ads on my site that deffinitely are against the TOS on the grounds of they land on pr0n sites. I guess that adwords look at your first couple of campaigns and then leave you to it. They can't police everything, but it would be nice if when we report such sites they'd actually remove them. Do they? Hmmm.......
How about starting a "Worst ad" thread someone?
Ok so you're a media manager with a budget and a large inventory of ads for funeral homes, which sites are acceptable? Health & Medical? no way very distasteful, insurance? close but not there too, other funeral homes web sites? forget it, that's it, you will go anywhere and everywhere.
What is the worst ad you have ever seen?
Don't know whether it's the WORST ad, but a rather funny one. One day I put up a photo of a Scottish Highland Cattle (from our Sctoland trip), and I was really surprised that AdSense managed to find a perfectly targeted ad for it (with a twist)...
"Highland Cattle Semen - from award winning bull XYZ - worldwide shipping"
:-)
Google pretty soon grasped the fact that this ad gets no clicks, and today I am seeing ads targeted at tourists.
